As you may know, October 17 is Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide celebration of afterschool programs across the country.  Greater Gallatin United Way kidsLINK Programs will be celebrating throughout the month.  It is also a day of advocacy – to raise our voices to help increase access to high-quality afterschool and summer programs for all students who need them.  Nationwide, an estimated 15 million children and youth do not have access to enriching, quality learning experiences outside of the regular school day. Over local 80 businesses understand the strength of collective giving and offer their employees the benefit of giving through a workplace charitable campaign. Workplace charitable campaigns build upon an organization’s culture of  philanthropy and social responsibility.  Employees appreciate the ease and value of giving through payroll deduction.  Companies that support their United Way are credited with caring about their communities, and in turn, their employees and their families.

is celebrating LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL Parent Nights will be held at kidsLINK Afterschool locations during October! In Montana 40% (61,486) of K-12 youth are responsible for taking care of themselves after school. 31% (41,829) of the children not enrolled in an afterschool would be likely to participate IF a program were available in their community. 12% (18,400) K-12 children participate in afterschool programs.

Greater Gallatin United Way thanks their MTCC VISTAs! Thank you for all of your commitment and dedication during 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. Together, we truly made a positive impact across Montana.  Here are some highlights from MTCC VISTAs across the state:  The Great Roll Out was another success! We collected over $2,600 worth of cash/in-kind donations, including 1,253 toiletry items! These donations will benefit the Big Sky Youth Home in Bozeman and the YWCA in Missoula.  In Red Lodge, AmeriCorps VISTAs organized Hearts and Minds, an event where veterans and EMS presented to middle school students on the importance of...

Greater Gallatin United Way took part in Belgrade's 2013 Fall Festival this past weekend.  We entered a float themed, "FALLing in love with books" in honor or our kidsLINK Afterschool Program and the expansion in Belgrade.  Thanks to First Interstate Bank's One Book At A Time and Barnes & Noble's Holiday book drives, we were able to distribute books to children lined up along the parade route.  Our goal is to help ensure every child has a book to read at home because ALL children should have the opportunity to succeed.
