Power of Partnerships - - Rob Watson, Superitendent of Bozeman Public Schools

Dear BSD7 Staff and Community Supporters...

I wanted to take a moment this week to discuss something that is critical to the success of our schools - community partnerships.  We know that our students experience success because of their hard work, the support of their families and the support of our dedicated staff.  But we also know that it takes an entire community of supporters to make our District successful.  And two of our strongest community partners are Greater Gallatin United Way & THRIVE - Both of these organizations celebrated major milestones this year and should be congratulated.

The highly successful THRIVE CAP program celebrated 25 years.  Our students receive direct benefit from the 100's of CAP volunteers who provide mentorship as well as friendship.  We all know the power of mentoring and how it relates to student achievement.  The THRIVE program has a strong record of success will all their programs and we are fortunate to call them our partners.

This past week, the Greater Gallatin United Way (GGUW) celebrated their 35th year with a special luncheon, attended by many community leaders and supporters.  Governor Bullock, the keynote speaker, encouraged all of us to take part in his early childhood education initiative.  He spoke of the importance of providing early learning opportunities for all children and the direct impact that this effort has on student achievement and the economy.  We are fortunate to have the GGUW as a partner, not only in early childhood education, but also with our KidsLINK afterschool program and Graduation Matters initiative.

We live in a unique community - one that values the importance of education and understands that the success of our schools is directly related to the success of our community.  We have two great organizations in THRIVE and the GGUW who help us to accomplish our purpose of helping every student succeed and make a difference in a rapidly changing world community.

Thanks!
Rob Watson
