United Way Worldwide was consistent and effective in their advocacy efforts to improve the federal K-12 education law currently known as No Child Left Behind.

The U.S. Senate voted this morning to approve the House-Senate agreement, Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015, by a vote of 85-12.  Click here for news coverage from Education Week.

U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan scheduled a ceremony for this afternoon to enroll and prepare the bill for the President’s signature.  The President is expected to sign the bill by the end of the year.

We thank everyone for their advocacy efforts throughout this year, in particular, to help get this much needed bill to the finish line.  This bill shifts more control and provides more flexibility to state and local school districts to better educate their students so they are prepared for college and the global economy.
