2018 Volunteer Highlights

In March, GGUW hired Sylvia Drain as a Community Engagement Specialist. Sylvia is dedicated to increasing the impact of volunteerism in our communities. Sylvia works with individuals, businesses and agencies to identify volunteers and opportunities to make meaningful matches. She speaks to a variety of businesses and local groups and attends outreach events to promote volunteerism. Sylvia has also taken on marketing and maintaining GGUW’s volunteer website, VolunteerMT.org.

A variety of volunteer projects have taken place this year, including First Interstate Bank employees volunteering on a bank holiday day to provide fun and educational money-related stations during a PIR Day for students in our kidsLINK program at Hyalite Elementary School. Delaware North employees conducted a toiletries and household goods drive distributed by GGUW to agencies in need of those supplies. US Bank employees assembled Literacy Kits (children's book with accompanying learning activity) as a group activity for GGUW to distribute through partner organizations and during our Dolly Parton Imagination Library kick-off event. Over 180 children at the event received a Literacy Kit; more than 700 have been distributed. The event was also staffed by volunteers from the Bozeman Noon Rotary Club, a partner in the Imagination Library project.

Other projects and events are in the planning stages for 2019. If your business or organization is interested in a volunteer project, reach out to Sylvia, 406.587.2194, for a consultation.
